Love Notes - a guest post by Clayton
A co-worker of mine received a large vase of roses from her husband yesterday, invoking inquiries from all of the staff. It was her 16th anniversary, she explained, and her husband, breaking tradition, had ordered 16 roses for her. She went on to explain that her usual anniversary or Valentine's Day gift was a love note written on a paper towel or napkin that she would find on the kitchen counter when she arose for the day (her husband, a truck driver, leaves the house at 3:00 a.m. for work). Yesterday morning she awoke, and anxiously rushed to the kitchen to find her love memento only to be disappointed and upset. I guess that if your only token of appreciation and admiration is a napkin with a note on it, you're really disappointed not to get one.Anyway, I told Stacie this story and we thought of several possible love notes that could be written on a paper towel or napkin.
When you're away, I always miss you
so I declare my affection on this piece of tissue
He said:
She loves me,
she loves me not,
as he plucked the squares
from a roll of Scott
If I called you cute,
would you think me shallow?
If I wrote on a Kleenex
moistened with aloe?
Roses are red,
and purple when wilted
this note is written on
a napkin that's quilted
"I love you even when you burn my supper,"
he wrote on the quilted quicker picker upper
Roses are red,
red like a mounty
this note is written
on a sheet of Bounty
I find your smile amply charmin',
and when you're gone I find it alarmin',
if your love's a crop then I will be farmin'
so I express my love on this sheet of Charmin
