Car Seats
I saw something that really angered me today. I was stopped at an intersection and looked over at the car next to me. In it there were two women; one driving and one in the passenger seat with a very small child on her lap!
The child looked no older than 18months and I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was at a loss as what to do in a situation like that; I didn't really think 911 was the number to call and didn't have any other number available in the car. I did a little research online and found that in California we can call 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247)
Does anyone else have any other suggestions for what to do if you see someone endangering a child like this? (I guess besides yelling at them through the window) In other states you may be able to find out who to contact through local highway patrol or dmv websites.

WOW! That makes me so mad.. you are actually required to call 911 and give the make and model of the car, where you're at, and the license plate number. It's considered reckless child endangerment and the police don't tolerate that, not to mention that if something happened to them right in front of you, you'd have guilt forever!
When I worked at the daycare we were required to call the police if we saw a parent pull out of the parking lot with an innaproprately fastened child. My dad (Portland Paramedic) ALWAYS appreciates it when people look out for the innocent. He's the one who's gone on some of those nasty calls and those calls are tramatizing for EVERYONE.
ne way, I love reading you're entries! Jeremy was in town this past weekend and I was telling him about how you're doing. He's been trying to find a way to get ahold of George Walker (that's what led us to talking about you!)They are doing great though!
enough of me... bye!
Hmm... was it Britney Spears? ;-)
Debi, so 911 is the right place to call, thanks for letting me know! That would be a lot quicker than the other number I had :)
Yes, the carseat laws are annoying - especially when your child is 8 years old and still in a carseat - but you know, in the end, there's a reason for them ... to protect children.
That scenario would make me sick too. :-P
